COMPUTATIONAL STATISTICS & DATA ANALYSIS http://www.elsevier.com/locate/csda Special Issue on: Statistical Genetics and Statistical Genomics We are inviting submissions for the special issue of Computational Statistics and Data Analysis that address statistical methods in the design and/or analysis of genetic and genomic studies. The last two decades have witnessed ever accelerating growth in the availability of high-throughput technologies for measuring aspects of genomes and the expression. Such techniques include high-density SNP-Chips for genotyping, microarrays for gene expression analysis, comprehensive proteomic measurement techniques, comparative genomic hybridization arrays for genome-wide assessment of DNA copy number polymorphisms, comprehensive gene knockdown capabilities via RNAi, methods for genome-wide methylation assessment and yet others still. Important applications of these techniques span studies of experimental organisms, livestock, and humans and involve many disciplines (e.g., medicine, evolutionary biology, agriculture). These methods have in common the high-dimensionality of the data they produce and the attendant computational and inferential challenges. They each also bring unique challenges. Statisticians and other methodologists have risen to the challenge of developing methods suitable for the design and analysis of studies using such methods. Much has been accomplished in this realm, but much remains to be done. For this special issue we are soliciting papers that address statistical and computational aspects of the design or analysis of genetic or genomic studies including, but not limited to, studies using any of the aforementioned techniques. The papers must have/bring a methodological aspect in order to be considered for publication. Empirical examples are encouraged but not required. The papers must further contain original unpublished work (this can include comprehensive and intellectually synthetic review papers) that is not being submitted for publication elsewhere. Submissions will be refereed according to standard procedures for Computational Statistics and Data Analysis (CSDA). Information about the journal can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/csda. CSDA is indexed in Science Citation Index (Web of Science). The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2007. Expected Date of notification of decision: January 15, 2008. Electronic submission is strongly encouraged. Please e-mail a PDF file of your double-spaced manuscript to: [log in to unmask] The special issue editors: David B.
