A Practical Guide to Teaching Race and Ethnicity as Part of Citizenship
Education in Secondary Schools

WHERE AND WHEN? Thursday 27th September 2007, Jury's Inn, Broad Street,
Birmingham, B1 2HQ

WHAT? Esmee Fairbairn funded research conducted by Newman College of Higher
Education has highlighted the fact that many secondary level citizenship
educators often feel apprehensive or under-confident about teaching issues
relating to race and ethnicity. This one day conference supported by the
Higher Education Academy's Centre for Sociology, Anthropology and Politics
and Citized, will aim to discover the challenges facing educators of
Citizenship and provide teachers with the tools to teach sensitive issues
with confidence.
