In the New Portugal EU presidency

Presidency of the European Union: Portugal 2007
This is the official website of the Portuguese presidency of the EU, from June 2007. It is available in English, Portuguese and French. It has the usual calendar of events, policy areas, documents, a media centre and a link to information on Portugal.

Debates Parlamentares
This is an official website maintained by Assembleia da República Portugal. It provides free access to a large collection of full text parliamentary debates and materials relating to Portugal from approximately 1821 onwards. They include materials from the Monarquia Constitucional 1821-1910; 1st República 1910-1926; Estado Novo 1935-1974 and 3rd República 1975 onwards. Documents include parliamentary debates, with details of legislation, documents and agendas. The database may be searched or browsed. materials relate to the upper and lower chamber of the parliament. Full text is currently offered in Portuguese only.

Blogging revolution: government in the age of web 2.0
This site provides free access to a 99 page report by David C. Wyld which was published by the IBM Center for Business of Government in June 2007. It surveys the rise of blogging as a social phenomenon and its implications for the future political communication by governments and public services. It includes some case studies of usage and a guide to blogging.

IPEX : Interparliamentary EU Information Exchange
IPEX is designed to support the electronic exchange of EU-related information between national parliaments. Researchers will find it invaluable for both tracing the text of recent EU proposals and documents and information about the stage of scrutiny of specific EU regulations and proposals in national parliaments of individual member states. It is possible to search for a specific COM document and find information on the stage of parliamentary scrutiny which it has reached. The site also includes useful calendars of EU activity.

Democratiya
Democratiya is a free online bimonthly book review journal based at Edge Hill University with an international editorial board. It aims to stimulate discussion of radical democratic political theory. Each issue contains long articles which discuss recent politics and international relations publications. There are also regular interviews with leading academics, philosophers and writers. All aspects of the academic study of politics, international relations and theory are covered. All issues from 2005 onwards can be read online.

European Secretariat memorandum search
This website is maintained by the UK Cabinet office European Secretariat who is responsible for advising on British government EU and european policy. This database provides information on British scrutiny of EU documents and legislation. It comprises a searchable database of full text memorandums; comments on European Commission COM documents. The database may be searched by reference number and/ or keyword or government department. All aspects of EU policy are covered.

PRESS TV was the first international Iran-based news network to broadcast in English. It has a prime focus on political and economic news about the Middle East from an Iranian perspective. Its website provides free access to news headlines, programmes and analysis. Some programmes can be watched online. Topics covered in detail include the foreign policy of Iran; Iranian commentary on American foreign policy; Iranian politics and current affairs and world events. Technical and copyright information is displayed on the website. The main emphasis is upon current news stories.

Gordon Brown Polls: Angus Reid Monitor
Angus Reid Global Scan is a component of Angus Reid Consultants an international partnership dedicated to exploring and understanding public opinion at the regional, national and global level. Since 2003 it has provided free access to public opinion polls and election tracking from nations worldwide. This section of the website contains polls on the leadership of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. They track Uk citizens attitudes and ratings of Brown and his leadership of the Labour Party. Many of the entries are summaries of research reports, however each entry offers full bibliographic references and some detail on poll data methodology.

European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law
The European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL) is an informal network of the environmental authorities of Member States, acceding and candidate countries of the European Union, and Norway. "The Network’s objective is to create the necessary impetus in the European Community to make progress on ensuring a more effective application of environmental legislation. It promotes the exchange of information and experience and the development of environmental legislation, with special emphasis on Community environmental legislation." The site includes information on the IMPEL work programme; reports of some of the projects; FAQs and useful links.

EUtube: YouTube channel of the European Commission
This is the European Commission official YouTube channel. It provides free access to EU online videos. These include consumer information for the general public, documentaries on the history and current role of the EU; political interviews with European Commissioners and updates on new policies. All areas of EU policy are covered including EU politics; environmental policies and research programmes. Main emphasis is upon current news stories.Technical and copyright information is displayed on the website. Information is offered in English and other European languages.

Stormont Papers: Northern Ireland Parliamentary papers online 1921-1972
This site provides free access to an electronic library of full text government reports relating to Northern Ireland during the period from June 7, 1921-March 28, 1972. They include over 92,000 printed pages from 84 volumes of minutes of the Stormont (Northern Ireland devolved parliament). These provide a rich source of information on the government of the region, social, economic and foreign policy of Northern Ireland, relations with the British and Irish governments. They include coverage of issues relating to home rule in Northern Ireland, security and the Northern Ireland troubles. The project has been organised by the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis at Queen's University Belfast and is made available by the Arts and Humanities Data Service (Executive) at King's College London. The database may be searched by keyword or browsed by subject and date indexes. Copyright information is displayed.
