Dear All

This is to alert you to an interesting staff development post - for a UK
staff developer - in Cairo.

Do please pass it on to anyone you think might be interested. Apologies
for cross-postings, as ever.

The British University in Egypt was founded by agreement between the UK
and Egyptian Governments. It is located on a new Campus on the outskirts
of Cairo. The current faculties are Engineering, Business, Political
Science and Economics and Computing and Informatics. The objective of
the BUE is to provide an educational experience to students that is in
the British style and to British standards. A fuller description of the
University can be seen at www.bue.edu.eg <http://www.bue.edu.eg/>

BUE has full degree awarding powers under Egyptian law. The degree
programmes are based on UK syllabuses preceded by a preparatory year.
The University opened in 2005 and currently has 800 students with a
further expected intake of 1000 this Autumn. The plan is to grow to a
student population of 6000 by 2010.

The British University in Egypt has a partnership agreement with
Loughborough University which is in the process of validating the degree
programmes and has provisionally approved validation with final
confirmation due in September 2007.

For informal discussions please contact Leslie Croxford after 12 August.

Yours

Andy
