Challenging the orthodoxies: alternative approaches for research into Higher Education

3rd Annual Conference 6 December 2007

Mary Ward House, Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9SN

Following on the success of the first two conferences, this year’s focus will be on data

We wish to explore the concept of data – what it is, what it might be and what counts as data when we are researching into higher education.

Whether you collect empirical data, use narrative research or simply believe that ‘The real world is a fuzzy place’ we invite you to submit an abstract and join us to discuss this important issue.

‘Challenging the orthodoxies’ is a conference with a difference, based around very brief presentations highlighting the main points of previously circulated papers, and aiming to give participants more time for conversations and less time simply listening. Participants in previous conferences have been very positive about the experience.

If this year’s conference is as successful as the first two, it will provide us with enough material to consider an edited book.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and should be sent to [log in to unmask] by 11 August 2007. All abstracts should be saved as ‘surname.doc’.

Final papers for discussion at the conference will be required by 2 November for uploading onto the conference website.

Papers from last year’s conference can be accessed at: http://www.mdx.ac.uk/aboutus/fpr/clqe/events.asp

Further information can be obtained from: Michelle Haynes (020 8411 6828; [log in to unmask])
