Could you please give references to articles about auscultation if you have
seen that. I am interested because I am updating a midwifery textbook in
Sweden and I also think about midwifery in Africa, Uganda, where they don´t
use carditocographs during deliveries. We are beginning to forget old
knowledge but also get rid of old methods which could be updated with new
research.

Is it possible for you to give this listserv a listing of those studies? I,
for one, shall be most grateful.

Subject: Intermittent auscultation

Regarding counting strategies and auscultation

Yes there is room for error with multi count strategies although this
needs to be weighed against the inaccuracies that have been found when
the heart rate is higher than normal and counted for one full minute.
Some studies have demonstrated that multi count strategies are better
for detection of periodic changes in the heart rate and can be plotted
on an auscultation chart.
