Dear all, I have just recently joined the list and have been following discussions with much interest, particularly those on intermittent auscultation. To introduce myself formally, I am a midwifery research assistant in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and I am in my first year of a PhD. My research project proposes a randomised controlled trial comparing the admission CTG versus intermittent auscultation of the FH in low risk women on admission to the labour ward showing signs of possible labour. Needless to see the research process has been a huge learning curve thus far, with a few unexpected dips and bends in that curve!!! - but enjoying it very much all the same. The proposed sample size is approx. 6000 women and having successfully secured access to one site, we (my supervisor and I) are in the process of negotiating access to a second site - so all fingers and toes crossed!! I should be delighted to hear of any work anyway has done on the subject of EFM and as previously mentioned I have found the discussions and references re Intermittent auscultation very helpful. I look forward to future communications with you all. Kind Regards, Valerie.
