Good Evening members,
Dartmouth Museum has been offered a student's text book on 'Good English' (in good condition) together with a certificate of membership of 'The Collegiate Extension Society' of London. It was issued to a William John Wotton Esq. but undated. It seems that Mr. Wotton was a Dartmothian. Our best guess is that the package dates from the late 19th or early 20th Century.

Qu. 1. Has anyone heard of this organisation? The Internet has not thrown up anything at all. Is it perhaps a part of London University?
Qu. 2 This is not really within our Collections Policy though it could be stretched because of Mr. Wotton's origins - we know a little about him. So - would anyone out there like these items since Mr. Wotton's only known relative is in a 'state of disinterest' in a nearby Home and a Xerox of the certificate would suffice for any future family enquiry.

                                                                                                David Lingard
                                                                                     Chairman, Dartmouth Museum
