An exciting opportunity has arisen for an archaeologist to contribute to historic landscape characterisation and related work in north Wales (Llŷn and Anglesey).
The principal responsibility of the post will be to assist in the technical production of a number of historic landscape characterisation (hlc) and LANDMAP reports (funded by Cadw, and Countryside Council for Wales respectively), based on the Llŷn and Ynys Môn Historic Landscapes Register areas and AONBs, some of the most beautiful and significant landscape areas in Britain. Additional work may involve assisting with the updating of the regional Historic Environment Record which is about to switch to a web-based system, shared between the four Welsh Archaeological Trusts, and answering HER enquiries.
The successful candidate should be familiar with historic landscape characterisation, GIS (Mapinfo), databases and HERs, and be aware of general heritage management issues. He or she should also have an interest in outreach activities, including website development, possess good written and oral communication skills, and display initiative.
A degree in archaeology, enthusiasm, the ability to speak Welsh, membership of the IFA and a current driving licence would be advantages.
Applications with cv and two referees should be received by 20th July 2007. Interviews will be held in Bangor on 2nd August. For further details, please contact:
