**apologies for cross posting**

> We have been busy putting the final touches to the programme for our conference in September. Numbers are looking good for the event and I have attached the latest updated programme which features a cracking array of workshops. If the attachment doesn't come through correctly, visit http://www.centuryofprobation.com/Conference/ I hope if you haven't booked already you do so soon to make sure of your place. Look at some of the offers particularly bursaries for retired probation officers. First 20 registering get £100 off. You can also now book as a day delegate too.
>
> The E-Oral history is now online and ready for your considered thoughts. You can go to http://www.centuryofprobation.com/eoral_history/ and register your interest in completing the E-Oral History. You can do this section by section rather than do it all in one go so this makes it a less onerous task. I hope you will do so soon as we build up a sense of what YOU think our past is about.
>
> The Moments in History continue to appear on the Portal (www.cjp.org.uk) though you will have noticed some gaps recently. People are so busy these days that delays are inevitable but the Moments are building into a good record of the past and will be reproduced in booklet form in time for the conference. We will let you know when you can buy a copy online.

> Its been a hectic year for us as it has been for the probation service. Uncertainty remains the key word at the moment but I hope that that uncertain sense of the future does not lose your enthusiasm for the past as I firmly believe that the past informs our present work to such an extent that it is worthwhile looking back to go forward.
