As some of you will be aware, the National Council on Archives has been reviewing its priorities and activities, and has decided to make advocacy for the sector the focus of its plans. To take this forward the Council is establishing a new post of Head of Advocacy, which was advertised in Wednesday's (25th) Guardian newspaper . Please bring it the attention of anyone who you think might be interested and have the required skills. We hope to have someone in post in the autumn.
 
Ruth Savage, our Policy and Development Officer has resigned her post, after 2 years of sterling work for the Council, during which she did much to develop the role of NCA within the sector. We owe her a considerable debt of gratitude and wish her well for the future. The Council plans to establish a new part-time post to continue this work of developing the sector, but we do not intend to fill this post until after the Head of Advocacy has been appointed.
 
During the interregnum, Louise Ray, the Archives Lottery Adviser will act as our main point of contact. Her contact details are as follows:
