Interactionism has become one of the dominant sociological perspectives in the world today. It is theory based on social interaction, hence the name given to the theory itself. It links to the sociological views of the German theorist Max Weber. It promotes the idea that nothing in society is determined, and that people can break free of a label as individuals
Transactionists
Three educational orientations are (1) transmissionists, who hold that learning is mastery of subject matter; (2) transactionists, who believe that learning is development of intellectual capability; and (3) transformationists, who believe that education should change or transform society. Technology education's emphasis on process is transactionist, and its promotion of understanding to live responsibly in a technological world is transformationist. (JOW)
