Meeting Details:

 

• The Council Room is in the University Offices, which is the building marked as number 27 on the map found at: http://www.dur.ac.uk/map/durham . The map also shows the railway station.

 

• The taxi fare is about £3.50 - £4.00 from the railway station to Old Shire Hall.

 

• Car parking in Durham City is difficult. Attendees won’t be able use University car parks. Most public parking spaces are taken by 9:00. The best bet for anyone driving is the Pay & Display spaces directly in front of the University Offices (an odd space might be free if lucky) or the multi-storey car park attached to the Prince Bishops shopping centre which is accessed off the Leazes Bowl roundabout that joins Leazes Road to New Elvet (10 minute walk to the University Offices).

 

• Attendees can search for available University accommodation through the University  web address: http://bookings.travelstay.com/DurhamUniversityBooking.htm However, as the 22^nd June is still term time there’s unlikely to be much, if anything, available. Members might be interested that whilst in the North East – on Thursday 21 June at 6pm, one of Northumbria’s newly appointed Visiting Professors, barrister Tim Pitt-Payne, will be giving his inaugural lecture entitled “What is Information Law and Why Does it Matter?”, in Newcastle. Tim is an excellent speaker and right at the forefront of developing this area of law. If you think that you would be interested in coming along Helen Morris can send you more details  - there is also a drinks reception beforehand.
