Hello Ann, designer Ronen Kadushin who set up a workshop in Berlin about three years ago stated a project called "open design": he offers CAD-/ CAM-downloads for accessoires and is also engaged in furniture design. Have a look at his website: www.ronen-kadushin.com You find references for his works in the "Design in Steel" book by Mel Byars (2003) and also in my publication "C_Moebel, Digitale Machart und gestalterische Eigenart" (Frankfurt, 2003), which has it's focus on crafts customization.
