FINAL WEEK

British Library National Competition for UK Public Libraries

Closing date: Friday 29 June, 2007

See www.bl.uk/librarycompetition

The British Library is calling on public libraries across the UK to submit their entries for its spectacular competition, launched to put local treasures online. Four public libraries - one each in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - will have their winning item transformed into a Turning the Pages 2.0 'virtual text' and shared with the world via the British Library website at www.bl.uk <http://www.bl.uk/> .

"Submitting an entry is very straightforward," says competition manager Chloe Tait. "You simply email [log in to unmask] with details of your nominated item. You need to explain why you consider it to be an excellent candidate for Turning the Pages 2.0 treatment and how you would promote your TTP text to your users. Please remember to also attach two colour images".

A maximum of three entries will be accepted per public library authority. Go to www.bl.uk/librarycompetition for more information.

Each Turning the Pages 2.0 production and hosting package is worth £10,000, sponsored by Microsoft. Shortlisted entrants will be invited to a high profile awards ceremony at the British Library in early September 2007.
