Hello all, I attended the launch of the new NHS Choices site (wearing my CILIP HLG hat) on Monday. This is the promised new "super site" for patients. (see http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/idcplg?IdcService=GET_FILE&dID=14101 8&Rendition=Web for a Dear Colleague letter about it) You can see the preview at www.nhschoices.nhs.uk It is due to go "live" in around two weeks (apologies the date has slipped from mind) when it will replace the site currently at www.nhs.uk Features of note: Linkages to information in the NLH Clinical Knowledge Summaries and Specialist Libraries. New content around healthy lifestyles (videos and the like) Ability to search for hospitals by the treatment you require Moderated feedback option to allow patients to have their say about their hospital, gp practice etc. From my own testing there is some fine tuning required to the systems for locating and comparing hospitals. Feedback is welcomed (to the site obviously not to me!). You may want to communicate with your local Communications / hospital marketing department to ensure they are checking and correcting any information about your organisation. The Secretary of State spoke at the event and was very positive about the role of libraries in supporting patient care and informed choice. There were more than a few mentions of the NHS Library.
