Dear all,

We recently attended the 3rd UK Clinical Librarian Conference in York where Sarah Lewis (Clinical Librarian from Hampshire NHS Trust ) and Nia Roberts (Outreach Librarian from Oxford University) gave a presentation on search skills groups they had set up in their respective areas.

The idea is to provide an opportunity for peer-support to develop and improve search skills in an informal setting. The groups meet 4 times a year to discuss, reflect and share approaches to a set search question.  Nia Roberts kindly agreed to us including the link to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight group for more information: http://www.oxforddeanerycdu.org.uk/tvsha/libraries/search-skills-sub-group.html

We thought this was a very interesting idea and we wondered if anyone knew of anything similar currently happening in the North East?  If there isn’t anything like this we wondered if there would be interest in having a similar group in the North East?

The group would be for anyone in the area who carries out health/medical related searches – librarians, library assistants, information professionals etc and would provide an opportunity to develop search skills and techniques together.

We would be happy to be responsible for the organization of the group. Please let us know your views.

Kind regards
