BMJ Journals announce launch of the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases
archive - almost 70 years of content, now freely available online

The full archive of Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases (ARD): The EULAR
Journal, starting from volume 1, issue 1 (1939) is now available online -
provided by BMJ Journals, part of the BMJ Group, and hosted by Stanford
University's HighWire Press. All content older than 12 months is freely
available as fully searchable PDF files at: http://ard.bmj.com.

Institutional subscribers to current content for ARD will automatically
gain access to the archive via IP and remotely via Athens as applicable.
Readers within institutions that subscribe to the current content are not
required to register for access to the archive, although they can choose to
do so to benefit from additional personalised services that are available
such as folders, email alerting and saved searches. Registration for these
additional services can be accessed at:
http://www.journals.bmj.com/cgi/register.

Readers based at organisations that don't subscribe to the current content
of ARD will be required to complete a one-time registration process for
free access, also at: http://www.journals.bmj.com/cgi/register. Once
registered they will have access to all ARD archival journal content over
12 months old as it is published online, together with the personalised
services, via username and password.

The release of the ARD online archive is part of a phased programme by the
BMJ Group to make the archival content of all the BMJ Journals' 23
specialist medical titles freely available online. ARD now joins Clinical
Pathology, whose archive was launched in April. The remaining 21 titles
covering some 4,000 issues will follow over the coming months.
