BID and BVREH Developer, Oxford e-Research Centre Grade 7: Salary 25,889 - 31,840 p.a. The Oxford e-Research Centre is seeking an enthusiastic developer to work on two interesting and complementary projects at the Centre. The successful candidate will work as part of the 'Building a Virtual Research Environment for the Humanities' (BVREH) team to develop the existing prototype Virtual Workspace for the Study of Ancient Documents into a VRE to support documentary textual and manuscript scholars. They will also work as part of the Bridging the Interoperability Divide (BID) and OxGrid team to develop a specialized tool to retrieve metadata from experimental data produced by users of the campus grid, enabling easy retrieval of original data when referenced by items in the institutional repository. The candidate will have a Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with software development experience in object orientated languages such as C++, C# or Java. They will also be experienced in web development with familiarity with deployment of web technologies on the Linux platform including the Apache web server, Java Servlets/Portal frameworks and web services. It is essential that the postholder be able to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders alike and will have experience of gathering user requirements within an iterative development lifecycle.
