Dear Colleagues,
Litigation at International Courts may cost several millions
of dollars. Maritime boundary litigation for instance, involves exceptionally
high open and hidden costs. There would usually be the need for experts
on geography, cartography, oceanography, geologists, and other specialists
in addition to costs for exhibits, memorials and lawyers. There is the
"Secretary General’s Trust Fund to assist states in the settlement
of disputes"
- How well is this fund doing in its task?.
- Are there any comparable funds for States appearing before
the Permanent Court of Arbitration
- or before other courts e.g. ISCID/ Arbitral Tribunals?
- Does anyone also know of any recent helping hand being
rendered to indigent states involved in International litigation or in
implementation of judgments?
Answers of course do not have to be detailed nor related
to boundary disputes alone, but will be very much appreciated.
Best Regards
Gbenga
