We had a weird problem a couple of years ago, which caused our intruder
alarm to issue a "phone line faulty" message in the mornings as we went out
to work.

BT couldn't find out what was going on, and declared the line to be fine.

We had recently had our hall flooring replaced, and I eventually discovered
that the fitter had moved a telephone cable which was routed around the
skirting into an adjacent room, and that it was being crushed by a (normally
left open) door as we closed the door before leaving for work. The room is
protected by a PIR detector, and we had to close the door to avoid the dogs
(confined in the hall) causing a false alarm.

Is there something you do between 0830 and 0900 which might cause a similar
short-circuit?
