ACCESS TO PARENTING FOR DISABLED PEOPLE

The day aims to bring together a wide range of interested parties to identify current knowledge relevant to some disabled adults' experiences of access to parenting. This event is part of a series of ESRC funded seminars exploring issues of importance to disabled parents, practitioners, policy makers and researchers.

The seminar series as a whole aims to support the sharing of research and practice developments and stimulate further research and writing in this area. The seminars adopt the approach of Disabled Parents Network http://www.disabledparentsnetwork.org.uk/about/aims.htm  with an inclusive definition of disabled parents who include parents with physical or sensory impairments, parents who have learning disabilities, parents who experience mental distress and/or use psychiatric services, Deaf parents, parents who have a drug or alcohol dependency, and parents who have long-term health difficulties.
