As many in the north-west will already have heard, the former Cumbria County Archivist Miss Sheila MacPherson sadly died on 6th June 2007. She was associated with the record office at Kendal for more than thirty years from 1962 onwards, prior to taking early retirement after spending her final few years as County Archivist. Unfortunately she was later to suffer several years of ill-health. There will be a private cremation at Lancaster on Tuesday 19 June 2007. A memorial service to celebrate Sheila's life will be held on the same day at 2.45pm in Grayrigg Parish Church, near Kendal, which all are welcome to attend.
