The following part-time research assistantship might be of interest to you / your students: Research Assistant in Social Sciences: Project on Elderly Germans in Romania School of Social Sciences University of Southampton £25,134 per annum (0.5 fte) The Centre for Research on Ageing wishes to appoint a Research Assistant for a fixed-term project investigating informal support networks and identity processes among older Transylvanian Germans in Romania and Germany. The Centre is an exciting new multidisciplinary research and teaching centre examining key issues in ageing and the lifecourse from an international, comparative perspective. You will have a postgraduate qualification in social sciences, preferably sociology, social anthropology, gerontology, social demography, social geography, or in modern languages. With excellent written communication skills, you will be able to conduct literature searches, write literature reviews, collaborate in writing research reports and grant applications, and support general research activities. Very good knowledge of German is essential. You should be able to work independently and collaboratively and be accustomed to working to deadlines. Experience of research on transnationalism, migration, social networks, ethnic identity, and biography is desirable, and experience of conducting qualitative research an advantage.
