The usual screening test for carcinoid tumours is the
measurement of 24 hour urine 5-HIAA excretion. However, one of our local
consultants is interested in the measurement of chromogranin A and B for this
purpose and there seems to be some opinion in favour of using plasma 5-HIAA and
platelet serotonin. What do mailbase users recommend? I’ll
post a summary of any replies.
