Apologies for cross-posting...

An opportunity has arisen for a talented communicator to work on a
new project with the 'science made simple' team in Cardiff.
'Engineering Explained' is a new initiative from 'science made
simple' that will take our successful shows formats, but apply them
to the many different aspects of Engineering. Thanks to funding from
the ERA Foundation, IET and EPSRC; Engineering Explained will employ
a dedicated communicator to develop content for interactive
Engineering shows (for schools and festivals) that aim to explain to
a broad range of audiences what engineering is - and also clarify
what it isn't!

Candidates must have a passion for engineering, loads of initiative
and creativity, and excellent communication skills. Previous
experience of presenting, working with schools and managing projects
is desirable but not essential. The idea of standing up and talking
to over 100 teenagers at a time should not be something that fills
you with (too much) fear!

This is initially a 2-year fixed term contract (subject to a 3 month
probation period) but it is hoped that this will be extended. The
successful candidate will be based in our offices at Cardiff
University but the post will include a substantial amount of travel
across the UK, and possibly overseas. Salary will be in the range
£15,000 to £16,500 depending upon experience and qualifications. A
full driving licence is essential and due to the nature of the job,
the successful candidate would need to undertake a full CRB check.

'science made simple' are an award winning* outreach company who
specialise in the promotion of science and engineering through
interactive shows and presentations. We also deliver communication
training to researchers and undertake consultancy work for a variety
of customers. More information can be found on our website
