medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Meg, Here's a good one of the Death of Lazare at Vézelay:
http://www.art-roman.net/vezelay/vezelay8.htm

There are many others in France that I know of but don't have time to search. It's a shame our art-roman webmaster has not had time to do Moissac because the Death of the Rich Man is a rich source of such images. Instead of an angel, a demon is eagerly awaiting the exit of his soul.

If you google or dogpile: Lazarus and Dives; Lazarus and the Rich Man; Death of Dives, and use "images" in addition to "web," you might find more.

BTW, the Lazare of the above-referenced URL is the brother of Martha and Mary, not the beggar of the parable. Those into trivia will be interested to know that Lazare is the only named personage of the parables of Jesus.

Best, MG
