PhD Studentship

The Centre for Tourism, Consumer and Food Studies is offering a fully funded PhD Studentship in the

area of Capitals of Culture: Tourism, Community and Identity.

The proposed focus of research is in the following 3 areas:

• The documentation and analysis of the transformative process of the regeneration projects currently under development in Liverpool;

• An investigation into community involvement in leisure and tourism practices and the resultant implications for community identities, processes and dynamics;

• An analysis of the place-making myths associated with tourism and leisure practices and their distance from the reality of the lived experience;

Applicants should possess a minimum of a 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant social science discipline and be able to demonstrate an understanding or familiarity with qualitative research techniques. A masters degree in a relevant subject area would be useful.

The bursary is in the region of £12.6K in the first instance.
