Applications are invited for two permanent full-time
Lectureships/Senior Lectureships in the Department of Social Sciences. Our
Department was awarded a rating of 5*A in the last RAE with all staff returned.
For both posts, your level of scholarly excellence is
more important than your specific area of expertise. We expect you to have a
publications record or potential of the highest quality. We have a strong commitment to
interdisciplinary research and teaching across the social sciences and you will
be expected to contribute fully to this.
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sociology – REF: SS/12538
Applications are encouraged from sociologists with
research interests in any area of sociology, including scholars based in cognate
disciplines (such as cultural studies and social/cultural anthropology) whose
work has a sociological focus. Applicants should have an appropriate
qualification and be able to work comfortably in an interdisciplinary social
science environment. The successful candidate will join a dynamic Sociology
Group in a phase of rapid development at the undergraduate and postgraduate
levels.
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Communication, Media, and
Culture – REF: SS/12539
The postholder will join the Department’s top-ranking
Communication and Media Studies team. Appointments are made with research and
scholarly record or potential as the prime criterion. Applicants should have an
appropriate qualification and be able to work comfortably in an
interdisciplinary social science environment. The successful candidate will teach both
on the undergraduate programme in Communication and Media Studies, and the
postgraduate programme in Media and Cultural Analysis.
Salary for
both posts dependent on qualifications and experience is £29,138 - £46,758 per
annum
