Apologies for cross-posting IAML:UK and Ireland presents - “Success with Music Inter-Library Loans” A day course for library staff who need to borrow music for their users Thursday 21 June 2007 Bournemouth Library This unique course is designed to help public and academic music library staff to obtain, confidently and successfully, performance sets and other music materials for the communities they serve. Objectives At the end of the day you will : * be able to identify the different types of music material required by users on ILL * be confident and knowledgeable in knowing how and where to obtain music items * Identify what materials are not available and why * understand how the UK inter-lending system for music sets operates Programme 9.30 Registration, coffee 10.00 Welcome and introduction 10.15 Music formats and terminology, including practical exercises 12.00 The reference interview – assessing what your users need 13.30 Getting hold of what you want – what is and is not available 14.15 Catalogues and reference tools 15.00 Reference tools exercise 15.30 Managing the loan 15.45 Question time 16.30 Close The training team Jane Henshaw is the Learning Resources Adviser for music and performing arts at Colchester Institute. Ann Keith is Music Librarian of Christ’s College Cambridge and IAML UK and Ireland Publications Officer. Roger Taylor is a Past President of IAML UK and Ireland and Performing Arts Librarian for Somerset Libraries. There will be regular opportunities throughout the day for participants to ask questions of the training team.
