*** SORRY FOR CROSS-POSTINGS *** *32nd LCA Discussion Forum* *Cradle to grave of electronics: from production in China to recycling in Switzerland* 7th of June 2007, 9:45 - 17:30h, Empa Akademie, Duebendorf We are pleased to invite you to the 32nd Discussion Forum on Life Cycle Assessment. The need to evaluate the environmental impacts along the whole life span of electronics will increase dramatically. Not only consumption of electronics will increase fast in transitional and developing countries, but also modern electronics will differ in production design and resource consumption while being used. Which knowledge gaps of life cycle inventories should be closed? What does it mean to produce electronic equipment and their components in China while the usage and recycling is mainly happening in high and middle income countries? This LCA DF will be held in conjunction with the Sino-Swiss Scientific Workshop "Life cycle assessment of electrical and electronic equipment". The morning is split up into three parts: In the first part, two speakers will inform you about the co-operation possibilities funded from the Swiss Science Foundation, as well as the current state-of-art in LCA in China. In the second part, three presentations will show you an overview of the current state of LCA in the sector of electronics production and products. The last part of the morning is dealing with e-waste, its composition, the toxicological effects of its treatment and the LCA of its end of life recycling options After the short presentation session *Application of LCA data of electronic products, two workshops* offer to all participants to be active either in the question of data gaps (-> Workshop 1), or then by asking what it implies to recycle in Europe and to produce in China (-> Workshop 2). The results from these two workshops will in the last part brought back to the overall public followed by an in-depth discussion of open issues from this day. This 32nd edition of the discussion forum LCA will be held in ENGLISH.
