CALL FOR PAPERSTruth, Power, and
Politics: Reflections on the Logic of PolicsWorkshops In Political
Theory - Fourth Annual ConferenceManchester Metropolitan
University3rd September, 2007 - 5th
September, 2007The main concern of this panel is to deal with the
tension between neutralisation of politics and the political. In general
this workshop seeks to discuss the tension between neutralisation/depolitisation
and primacy of politics, focusing on questions as follows:
- Which is the
relation between truth, violence and politics?
- Is it possible to settle
the legitimation of a political order in a stark concept of
politics, as an
activity based on power, violence and non transcendental values?
- Is the
political myth the only element able to build a legitimate order?
Each
paper will be allowed 30 minutes for presentation and 30 minutes for
discussion. Longer versions may be submitted for
pre-circulation.
