PRESS RELEASE
New Commission Decision creates a single reference point for uniform EU
radio spectrum information (16 May 2007)Radio spectrum users will soon
benefit from greater clarity on what spectrum is available and how this
may be used across Europe. Such information helps industry to make
informed decisions when developing business opportunities, and so will
stimulate investment. It is also essential for secondary trading of
rights to use spectrum, which is also a Commission objective. The
Decision, adopted on 16 May, builds on existing requirements in the EU
Telecom Rules and defines a common format and level of detail for
information that Member States should provide.

11 EU-supported films on show at the 2007 Cannes Film 
Festival (16 May 2007)Eleven films funded by the EU's MEDIA programme
have been selected at the 60th Cannes International Film Festival 2007
underlining the MEDIA programme's vital role in supporting Europe's film
industry. In recognition of the importance of the audiovisual industry
to Europe at a time when technology is creating profound changes, EU
Ministers will renew their commitment to Europe's audiovisual sector by
attending the Europe Day at Cannes on 26 May. The French-Brazilian
filmmaker Walter Salles will be the patron of this 5th Europe Day.

4 European regional projects win "European 2007  
Broadband Project" awards (16 May 2007)All across Europe, different
projects aim  to connect rural and remote areas to broadband and try to
promote its use to spur rural and regional development. To exploit the
diversity of approaches and experiences from different regions, an
exhibition at the "Bridging the Broadband Gap" showcased projects that
constitute good practice from across Europe.

EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Accessible and Inclusive ICT - Information day on the 2nd 
call
22 May 2007  Brussels, BelgiumThis information event covers the second
call for proposals under the "Accessible and Inclusive ICT" objective 
of Challenge 7 "Independent living and inclusion" of the ICT Work
Programme (7th Framework Programme).
Discussions and exchanges will focus on the following topics : Embedding
accessibility in mainstream ICT; Computer simulation of the user
interaction; Non-invasive Brain Computer Interaction; ICT for Social
Inclusion of young people.
