Visit to the Textile Conservation Centre and Winchester School of Art
Library, Winchester Campus, University of Southampton, 21 June 2007

The visit will start at 2.00 in the Textile Conservation Centre which is
having an Open Day on this date. A variety of pieces will be on display
and conservators will be on hand to discuss their work. The Textile
Conservation Centre is a leading international centre for the education
of textile conservators and for research into textile conservation. The
Textile Conservation Centre is housed in a purpose-built building
described as being both functional and elegant which has won
architectural awards.

We will then visit the Winchester School of Art Library where the
textile collections now include Janet Arnold, Montse Stanley and Richard
Rutt and specialist collections covering dress history and knitting.

Trains to Winchester are hourly from London Waterloo and the journey
takes 50 minutes to an hour. The School of Art is a 10 minute walk from
the station. This promises to be a fascinating visit and I'm assured
that June is a wonderful month in which to visit the campus and Winchester!
