Many of us hit the same problems and deal with the SLC to try and resolve them but there has been no vehicle for institutions to compare notes or to alert others to problems that they may be facing. It was worrying that an evening's conversation in the bar, (mineral water only of course), revealed issues that some of us were not even aware existed. We appreciate that not everyone who subscribes to Admin Student deals with this area of work and we felt that it might be better if discussions on this topic went elsewhere. Therefore we have set up a new list, Admin-SLC which is designed for those who deal with the SLC on fees, loans and bursaries. With the future centralisation of student support under the SLC we felt it would be useful for there to be a forum whereby institutions could share information and discuss common problems. Whilst sometimes it may simply be an opportunity to let off stream, we also hope that colleagues will find it helpful to see how other institutions are dealing with particular issues.
