Dear
List members,
I'd
appreciate your help. I've had a letter from a GP complaining about the
variation in PSA results for a patient; a 66 year old man whose PSA on Beckman
Hybritech was 4.9 and from Abbott Architect was 6.5 on the same day, but not the
same sample. His previous results over the last 2.5 years were 6.0 (Bayer),5.8
(Bayer), 5.7 (Bayer) then a change to Hybritech gave this result of
4.9.
What
do I tell the GP? I know the Abbott assay runs higher than the Hybritech. How
much within person variation is there for PSA?
Many
thanks
