Dear all,

The reseachgroup Medical Image and Signal Processing (MEDISIP, ELIS, Ghent
University, Ghent, Belgium) is looking for researchers or students, who are
willing to fulfill for a *PhD in the field of biomedical imaging, image
processing and signal processing*.

In the past 15 years MEDISIP has done research on medical signal processing
(EEG, ERP) and medical imaging and image processing (SPECT, PET, MR).
Currently, the group is working on new techniques like:
• Diffusion weighted MR imaging in a 3T scanner
• fibre tractography
• time-of-flight PET
• SPECT of semi-conductor dectectors
• Monte Carlo simulations of PET and SPECT systems using GATE
• EEG source localization
• EEG/ECG signal processing using blind source separation
• EEG/fMRI imaging (where the equipment was recently acquired)
• ERP/fMRI studies
• Multimodality imaging of EEG, SPECT, MR and fMRI

The development of these new techniques can be used in a clinical
environment to speed up the process of diagnosis and make it more reliable.
Applications are localization of epileptic focus, functional brain imaging
in language tasks, dosimetry, PET/SPECT scanner design, brain-behaviour
analysis, multimodal visualization, cortical gray mapping for diagonis of
cortical dysplasia, molecular imaging.

Research is conducted in collaboration with clinical partners at a
university hospital (radioloy, neurology and cardiology at UZ Gent),
university partners (IPI/TELIN/UGENT,ESAT-KU Leuven) and industrial
partners
(Barco medical imaging, Siemens).

If you are interested, please send your CV and a motivation letter to
