************** my apologies for cross postings ***************

Several positions at the PhD and postdoctoral level up to five years are
available in the laser molecular spectroscopy and environmental physics
group of Prof. Otto Dopfer at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.

The research involves spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, and quantum
chemical investigations of charged molecular complexes and clusters in the
gas phase, with strong relevance to a broad range of interdisciplinary
topics ranging from biophysics to astrochemistry, including:

(1) Intermolecular interactions, potential energy surfaces, microsolvation
processes
(2) Organic chemical reaction mechanisms (e.g., proton transfer,
substitution reactions)
(3) Chemistry of planetary atmospheres and astrophysical media
(4) Catalytic processes (organic, inorganic, bio-organic)
(5) Combustion processes and production of soot
(6) Plasma chemistry
(7) Molecular recognition of biological molecules
(8) Proton transfer, proton wire, proton transport, fuel cells
(9) Nanodroplets and nanomaterials

In addition to modern laser spectroscopic equipment at TU Berlin, the group
is actively involved in strong international collaborations with groups in
Rome, Paris, Tokio, and Manchester in order to use world-wide unique
equipment, such as free electron and ultrafast lasers.

Qualified candidates should have a degree in Physics, Chemistry, or related
fields. Candidates with experience in some of the following fields will be
given strong preference:
laser spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, vacuum physics, molecular beams,
cluster science, data acquisition.

Interested and highly qualified candidates are encouraged to send
applications to Prof. Otto Dopfer ([log in to unmask]), including a
cover letter, a CV (including list of publications), a statement of
qualifications relevant for the position, as well as names and complete
addresses of two referees who would write a recommendation letter on your
behalf. The evaluation of the applications will begin at May 15 2007 and
will continue until all positions are filled. The desired starting date is
as soon as possible (negotiable).
