Several three-year PhD studentship (some with optional funding for a
Masters Degree) are available at the ESRC Centre for Genomics and Society
(Egenis) at the University of Exeter, including up to three ESRC centre

We are seeking to recruit students with a good undergraduate or Masters
Degree who have interests in any of our research areas (for details of
current research see www.centres.ex.ac.uk/egenis/research/index.htm) and
would particularly welcome proposals in the following:
• The interface between genomics and health and its social meaning and
implications
• Governance and genomics, in areas such as Nutrigenomics, Intellectual
Property, Identity, Social Control
• History and Philosophy of Genomics and related scientific and
technological fields
Egenis has a wide range of research interests with a particular focus on
social and philosophical aspects of emerging areas of genomics and
postgenomic biosciences with projects including systems biology and
apomixis. The students will be part of a lively research community of
interdisciplinary scholars and will have many opportunities for discussion
and interaction with a core group of researchers and postgraduates who are
interested in similar issues.
