Hello, everyone.  I just learned that a number of US public libraries offer free online access to the Rosetta Stone language program (via your public library card).  Perhaps the public libraries in England do the same.  Rosetta Stone is an audio-visual computer program that has flashcards, quizzes, dynamic speech recognition compares your speech with that of a native speaker, and much more.  It has 24 languages (including English for non-natives) to choose from.  Since many of us are serving diverse clientele, I thought this might be of interest.  Certainly the Spanish will help me out here in Miami.  :)

The LearningExpressLibrary database is also available via many US public libraries.  It offers free testing for various vocational careers (EMS, nursing, etc.), TOEFL, and the US Citizenship exam.  I just had a patron needing this yesterday, but didn't learn about this database until now.

Take care,

Tanya
