Perfecting your Presentations

Anyone can learn, or improve on,
this indispensable skill. So if you would like to:
Appreciate the differences between
oral and written communication and between communicating with groups and
individuals.
Understand the stages of the communication
cycle and their importance for presentations.
Be able to structure a presentation
for a particular purpose and audience.
Be aware of key techniques for
successful delivery.

Afternoon session 13.30-1500:
From Powerpoint
to Academic Print
(Facilitator: Dr Graham Walton,
Service Development Manager, Loughborough University Library and currently
Editor of Health Information and Libraries journal)
This session will dispel the myth
that you have nothing worth writing on and show how academic articles can
be developed from practice.
At the end of the session, delegates
will:
Understand the potential to develop
a presentation into a published article.
Appreciate the different, progressive
stages in writing an article for publication from a presentation.
Know the key factors that contribute
to quality published articles.
Feel confident to revise presentations
for submission for wider publication.

You may attend either morning or
afternoon session or both sessions.
Attendance is limited to HLG members.
Refreshments will be provided at
no cost to delegates. A sandwich lunch is kindly being provided
for delegates by Blackwells Health
Information and Libraries Journal.
Attendance is free but if you cancel
less than 3 weeks in advance or if you do not turn up on the day you will
be invoiced for £50 for each half day session that you booked. A
colleague may attend in your place but you must tell us at least 2 days
before the event.
Delegates are responsible for their
own travel and accommodation costs.
Places will be offered on a first
come first served basis.
