The Department of Geography in the Faculty of 
Science wish to appoint an enthusiastic Research 
Associate/Senior Research Associate to join a 
team extending the Great Britain Historical 
Geographical Information System and its popular 
"A Vision of Britain through Time" Web site, that 
we have developed since 1994. New funding covers 
adding the evolving states of Europe since 1815 
and Britain's parliamentary constituencies, 
linked to election result data, but we also want 
to enhance visualisation facilities.

The successful candidate will have a strong 
theoretical and practical background in 
Geographical Information Systems, and be able to 
write formal documentation. Applicants must be 
able to write for different audiences, including 
formal system specifications and want to make 
significant contributions to the evolving 
architecture of the Great Britain Historical 
Geographical Information System and to the field of historical GIS.
