engage offers grants for gallery educators to develop work with schools through Watch this Space 4 Watch this Space is a funded professional development programme for galleries, teachers and gallery educators, to enable them to gain first hand experience of each other’s work, in order to initiate, build and sustain relationships.

Teacher Placement Scheme

Galleries are funded to host one or two teachers from non-visiting schools on placement for four days. By getting to know the gallery, its education programme and the opportunities for partnership working, the teachers and galleries are supported to organise student visits. This is designed to develop gallery education programming and school curriculum planning and to strengthen galleries’ partnerships with schools.

Gallery Educator Secondments
Gallery educators are funded to do a three-day secondment in schools which regularly use galleries. Gallery educators gain knowledge of the curriculum, teaching and learning methods and how gallery visits impact on classroom teaching. Gallery educators attend three days of training with engage and receive three additional days’ funding to complete project work related to the placement.

Placements and training will take place from September to December 2007
