Hi Barry,

On the keyboard I have (not a cherry) once numlock is on the keys become the
numeric keypad so you wouldn’t need the Fn+7 set of combinations just the
ability to toggle numlock. However I haven’t tried this – the suggestions
were ones that I used to use in the good old DOS days to overcome this
problem…

Neil, Andrew et al

Am I right in thinking that to use mousekeys the client would use numlock to
switch it on & then I would need to set up the number keys as macros which
send function+number?

The separate number pad doesn’t achieve our aim of trying to cut down the
range of movement needed. At the moment the client (CP teenager) drives her
powered wheelchair left or right to move between typing & mousekeys on a
standard keyboard, which isn’t a terrible solution in itself!

Barry,

You could try one of the following:

There are various software utilities around that will turn numlock on and
off, you could try one of those utilities to toggle numlock on and off.

You could try a macro of ASCII{144} normally the numlock key

You could try using a macro to capture fn+numlock and then play it back as a
toggle.

Barry,

The compact Cherry keyboards that we use (D91275 and ) have a Function Key
(Fn) to the right of the Ctrl key. The keys that map to the number-pad keys
each have a square around the number / symbol to identify them and appear on
the following keys:

Standard Key / Number-pad Key (enclosed in a square)

7 = 7

8 = 8

9 = 9

0 = *

U = 4

I = 5

O = 6

J = 1

K = 2

L = 3

M = 0

. = .

; = +

P = /

/ = -

Enter = Enter

To get the number-pad key, I have to press and hold down the Fn key and
press the required "mouse" key. So once MouseKeys is enabled, to move the
mouse to the left, for example, I would hold down the Fn key and U.

Hope that helps

Regards

Andrew

Do you know which key combinations you use to get it working?

Cherry Compact Keyboard Model D91275 certainly does, although you have to
hold down the Fn key to access the number keys which may obviously render it
impractical for some users.

Dear all

Does the Cherry compact keyboard work with mousekeys? I'm sure I should
know. In the limited time I had with it, I got no response, but the
standard keyboard was OK. Tried alt+ left shift+ numlock but no joy.
