to be held on 3 May 2007 at London Metropolitan Archives.
Understanding and Finding London Probate Records
AfL are delighted to welcome Jane Cox to introduce the often bewildering array of wills and probate records in London. Jane has over twenty years of experience of probate and genealogy research at The National Archives and is author of a number of publications including ‘Hatred Pursued Beyond The Grave’.
You will find this seminar useful if:
· you would like to learn what London probate records are held where, what information they contain and how to access them
· you would like to explore the research possibilities of wills and probate records for genealogy, social and local history and more
· you have previously encountered difficulties using probate records in London and would like advice
· you are a records practitioner and would like to help your users make the most of wills and probate records in your collections.
Doors will open at 5.30 and the talk will start at 6pm. Refreshments will be available. The seminar is an open forum and following the talk attendees are welcome to ask questions, exchange news, and discuss matters of interest. The event will finish by 7.30pm.
