Steven As one of the list owners of archives-nra I try to encourage and allow free discussion. In the past there was a tendency (especially on Friday afternoons) to go away from the main focus of the list. There is also a need to respond to users requests - there were only one or two comments relating to the original "stop bleating" message and this quickly turned into a positive and constructive discussion of direct relevance and interest to many members of the list. I felt that the contributions from the various courses, alongside that from a current student were amongst the most valid in the entire debate in that they have direct knowledge of the current process and situation. There have been as far as I am aware no requests for us to take further action. Comments can be sent to the list-owners at the following e-mail address: [log in to unmask] Please also use this address if you are interested in volunteering to be one of the list-owners. best wishes Simon Simon Wilson (one of the archives-nra listowners) ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Steven Davies <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: [log in to unmask] Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2007 15:39:44 +0100 >Is this a debate or a convenient opportunity for academics to pitch their >insipid courses (Dundee excepted) > >No, I believe it is a convenient opportunity for as many Archivists as >possible to be rude on jiscmail. > >First we have the "stop bleating and get on with it" comment and now this >about archive courses being "insipid" - all from a debate where someone is >simply interested in joining our profession and wants a bit of advice.
