The NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Patient Safety (CRE-PS) was 
established in 2004 to promote and promulgate quality research in 
patient safety. Its principal agenda focuses on researching methods to 
measure and monitor the quality of care in the health sector at a 
national level.  The CRE-PS is located within the Department of 
Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine on the Alfred Hospital campus of 
Monash University.  The CRE-PS has an annual operating budget of 
approximately $1M AUD.

CRE-PS are seeking a highly motivated person to play a lead role 
nationally in initiating new innovative work in the application of 
statistical design and data analysis to measure quality of care in the 
health sector.  Work will be undertaken in collaboration with the 
principal investigators and with the CRE-PS national and international 
colleagues to develop a research agenda in this field.

Term: Full time position funded for 5 years: annual contract
Salary range (Academic Level C/D): $ 78,309-103,877 AUD

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The appointee will:
•	Play a lead role nationally in the application of statistical design 
and data analysis to measure quality of care in the health sector, using 
data from a variety of routine and registry databases;
•	 Undertake timely, expert analysis, interpretation and dissemination 
of data relating to the CRE-PS work program;
•	Monitor research in relevant statistical methodology and seek ways of 
developing methodology, as well as implementing new progressive and 
explorative techniques to measure care delivery;
•	Mentor PhD scholars working under the auspice of the CRE-PS;
•	Work with the principal investigators and executive officer to extend 
a strong research work program;
•	Work closely with the newly developed data coordination centre housed 
within the DEPM to provide statistical advice and high level assistance
