An overview of Six Sigma, an approach to quality improvement focused on understanding and reducing variation using statistical methods, will be given.  Lean Thinking, pioneered by Toyota and now also applied in the service sector, removes activities that don't add value. Lean will be compared and contrasted with Six Sigma.
