Museum Professionals Group
How to get that job!
The MPG is organising seminars around the country this year to address the issues around job application. The museum world is a competitive market, and it isn’t enough to have the relevant qualifications and experience. When employers are sifting through fifty or more applications, you need to make sure your application stands out from the crowd.

Workshops and presentations will look at a variety of topics, including putting together your CV and writing your covering letter. There will also be a chance to hear feedback from employers on the most common mistakes and application no-nos.

There will be three seminars this year, and more details will appear on this website shortly.

Social History Curators Group
Objects of Trade
National Maritime Museum Greenwich
21st to 22nd May 2007
The importance of exchange in creating and sustaining relationships has long been one of the fundamental tenets of anthropology. Trade, sometimes assumed to be primarily an economic transaction, also involves the development of relationships that link groups together. Trading relationships do not just involve exchanges of goods, but rather are part of a wider system of circulating values. Such relationships may have profound effects, particularly when they involve representatives of different cultural groups, as different systems of value come into contact with one another.
