The South Asian Health Foundation are looking for someone to run a project for them for a year: there is short time to the closing date but details are given below and this is a very central and active group with lots of access to the people who matter, so this is a challenging and exciting opportunity if you can take it up!
 
 

 

The South Asian Health Foundation, a UK Charity whose aims are to improve the health and well-being of South Asians living in the UK, seeks to commission the services of an individual to administer a national community health promotion program for cardiovascular disease. This is a Fixed-term contract of one year, full-time Start date April 1st 2007.

 

We are looking an enthusiastic and committed person to work with the SAHF Board and its Cardiovascular group and also within south Asian communities. S/he will contribute to the development of the project, adaptation, tailoring and management at a community level, establishment of a steering committee and will be responsible for its day-to-day management.

 

Specifically, s/he will:

- Organise community meetings

- Liaise with partners for the project (both national and local)

- Assist with the translation of English resources into south Asian languages

- Produce evaluation materials and reports at regular intervals

- Develop public relations materials and advertising materials, as well as media resources as required.

 

Essential skills: Applicants must be conversant in English and have good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with previous experience in community health promotion.  Good IT skills are essential.

Preferable skills: Ability to communicate in other south Asian languages. A medical background would be an asset and possession of media skills/experience in the media would be an advantage. 

 

Renumeration: The project carries renumeration of £24000 gross for 12 months (pro-rata).
